Ondo’s First Lady Initiates Training for 400 Emerging Tech-Savvy Girls

A dynamic initiative is underway as more than 400 young girls, hailing from the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State and beyond, are set to embark on the transformative journey of the 2018 BEMORE Summer Bootcamp 4 Girls Naija. This exceptional training program is hosted at Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, and spans a period of fourteen days.

The second edition of this groundbreaking training series is designed to equip participants with vital skills in information and communication technology (ICT), as well as solar renewable energy technology and other life-changing capabilities.

A remarkable endeavor, the program holds significant value, each slot valued at N200,000 per girl. It’s offered at no cost or at highly subsidized rates, driven by the intention of enhancing capacity and propelling technological advancement among young women. This notable initiative stands as one of the many remarkable citizens-driven programs of Ondo State’s visionary First Lady, Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Betty Anyanwa-Akeredolu, affectionately referred to as “Digital Mama.”

This comprehensive training package encompasses a range of offerings, including but not limited to individual tablets for each participant, complete training kits, comprehensive lecture manuals, complimentary accommodation, free meals, and access to medical services.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first such effort led by Mrs. Akeredolu. The program’s inaugural phase, conducted during the 2017 summer break, saw the training of over 300 girls, cementing the legacy of empowerment and change.

The camp commenced on Sunday, August 11, 2018, with the opening ceremony scheduled for Monday, August 12, 2018, at the Ondo State Public Servants Training Institute (PSTI) in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State. This event marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards skill development, empowerment, and a brighter future for these emerging tech-savvy young girls.
