Solar Panel Building Training for Girls: A 5-Day Empowerment Summer Boot Camp for Girls in Ondo State
The Office of Her Excellency in collaboration with Bemore Empowered Foundation, Ashdam Solar Initiative, BRECAN and BAAF is to train 100 Senior Secondary School Girls in Ondo State on solar renewable energy at a 5-day intensive summer boot camp in Elizade University, Ilara Mokin, Ondo state from the 21st of August to the 25.
The climate is changing and the earth temperature is increasing due to the emissions from the non-renewable energy sources that is being used widely across the earth. The future generations have to be taught the importance of using renewable energy and save the depleting ozone layer in order to maintain the livelihood of the earth.
Women are the Energy Managers in homes; women manage the energy for cooking, heating, lighting, care about reducing electricity bills, train children on how to manage resources and much more. Training women and girls on renewable energy and climate change will have a ripple effect on our great nation and help in reducing our fossil fuel dependence.
At this 5-day Summer BootCamp, they will be trained on how to build solar panels and also be given other life enhancing skills from the other collaborating NGOs involved in the program. Solar panels absorb the sunlight as a source of energy to generate electricity or heat. Solar panels provide a simple solution to having light at night. With solar panels, lighting is provided at all times.
The main objective of Educating Girls by building solar panels is to bridge the gap between men and women in solar energy sector. To encourage more of our girls to study science courses. Educating young girls enhances their lives and contributes to their environment and their community. Our mission is to promote diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the solar energy industry.
